The Fiery Cross...

The Crann Tara Pipes & Drums is a competitive highland pipe band based in the Boston area. The band participates in numerous competitions, parades, and other events throughout the Northeastern United States.

"Crann Tara" is the Gaelic phrase for the "Fiery Cross" carried through the highlands of Scotland to warn the clans of impending peril. The name is especially significant, as most of the charter members for Crann Tara were pipers from local fire departments and the former St. Andrew’s Ladies Pipe Band.

Crann Tara Proudly wears the tartan of the Scottish Rugby Union. Since the birth of the band in 1995, Crann Tara has welcomed pipers and drummers of all ages and abilities.

Under the Direction of Pipe Major Bruce Roberts and the guidance of truly talented piping and drumming instructors, Crann Tara has grown to include a Grade 4 competition band for the seasoned piper and drummer, and a Grade 5 band for those hoping to become involved in competitive piping and drumming.
